Greetings-
I've been anticipating your arrival.
No, this isn't some wierd sales pitch that's going to cost you a lot of money. Nor is it the rantings of an idiot, a left (or right) wing conspiracy theorist, a libertarian (or conservative) malcontent, or a religious whacko that you would be better off quietly dismissing and getting on with the rest of your life, regardless of how long or short a lifetime you may yet enjoy.
OK, so what is it? And while you're answering that one, please explain how it is that you've managed to anticipate my arrival?
I'm glad you asked! What's more, I'll keep my answers as short and succinct
as possible.
Please note: The purpose of this site is not to reinvent any wheel or to substantially
repeat (or even simply parrot) what others before me have already clearly stated.
Thus, definitions of terms and their explanations (when suitable) will be referred
to Wikipedia (http://www.wikipedia.org/), an information resource available
to everyone. On the rare occasion when the contributors to Wikipedia have either
missed the point or simply not addressed a particular term or topic, I will
do my best to do so in a similar style. Inasmuch as these represent plugs to
the holes that yet remain in the Wikipedia system, be assured that the definitions
of terms and explanations not included there will be submitted for incorporation.
Question: "What is it?"
Very Short and Succinct Answer: A Weblog. (If this is a term you'd like to
learn more about, clicking on it will take you to a definition and brief
explanation at Wikipedia, as explained in the note above.)
Question: "How is it that you've managed to anticipate my arrival?"
Very Short and Succinct Answer: By including in this file a series of meta
keywords so the various Internet search engines will index this page
and bring you here when you click on a hypertext link to it.
OK, I know what a "blog" is, but you didn't state your topic or agenda. And, (by the way) this is not the usual form in which "blogs" are presented. What's up with that?
Yes, I know. Strictly speaking, a "blog" is (per the Widipedia definition) an ". . . online journal, typically consisting of a personal diary or social and political commentary . . ." and as such, would tend to wander in its subject or focus, based on the events occurring in the personal, social, political, (etc.) activity space of the author. This is none of those. Yet the term "blog" is entirely appropriate as it is, like a personal diary, intended to have something of a serial element and I intend to contribute content on as much of a daily basis as "life in the fast lane" will allow. Sometimes that will not be possible, yet my purpose in establishing such a thing as a "web log" is to provide a rather substantial body of discussion in rather short bits that can be produced and posted in a relatively short period of time.
With regard to the form I've chosen, it's merely the quickest way I can get this project started. Since I already use Dreamweaver, I've merely picked up a tool that I'm already familiar with using, even though I'm not even a certified novice at using this particular bit of software. As time permits, I will be investigating the more traditional "blog" format and style, and if it suits my purpose, will be altering my selection of tools and/or forums in which to continue this activity.
That's very nice, but you have still not aluded to the topic of your "rather substantial body of discussion" other than to say what it is not . . .
You are correct, and if you feel a little put off, I understand entirely. Yet, as I mentioned above, the content is to be provided in "short" bits, and since I'm traveling in life's "fast lane", I must beg off on that point as I'm not only out of time today, I'm WAY over my brief allocation of time to pursue what I hope will become an intersting and enjoyable presentation of my topic, which I'll get into in the next entry.
